Words of Wisdom
by Julie Weinstein
We all know by now that comparison is the thief of joy. And we know comparing your reality to someone else’s highlight reel is never a great idea.
But today I wanted to chat about lifting up those around you, and cheering your peers on, all while doing so in an authentic way.
When the tide rises, we all float. And especially in a newer industry like blogging and this age of the influencers in which we are currently.
It can be easy – so, so easy – to hear about what someone else in your industry is doing and then get caught up spiraling down the rabbit hole of comparison, jealousy, and envy.
Common thoughts might be “but she’s younger than me” or “she started her blog and Instagram years after me” or some other notion surrounding this innocent peer in which you’re comparing yourself to.
And I get it – heck, if you’ve had your blog and/or Instagram for seven years, let’s say, and a newbie blogger comes into the scene and within a year they’ve surpassed your IG following and are getting partnerships with brands you’d kill to work with, yes of course you’re not just going to look away and not think about it. We’re human, after all.
