You can read a statement from her husband and this piece from the New York Times beautifully summarizes what Kate Spade stood for.

Her suicide is a stark reminder of the truth of a favorite quote of mine:

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

This iconic American fashion designer dubbed the mantra “live colorfully” which resonates with us so powerfully around here. But truly, mental illness does not discriminate.
