Did you hear the news? J.Crew just released their first ever collection of workout clothes in collaboration with New Balance!

That’s right… On the heels of the company’s collaborations with Net-a-Porter and with Nordstrom, the company has just released a new collaboration.

The new women’s activewear collection is in collaboration with New Balance. If you’ll recall, J.Crew has been collaborating with New Balance to create sneakers like these for quite some time. So, this full collection was a natural extension of that collaboration.

The cobranded collection is comprised of twenty separate styles. All pieces are reasonably priced, given the high quality for which both brands are known. More specifically, prices range from a $15 for a headband to $200 for a soft-shell jacket. This essential windbreaker is a favorite of ours.

J.Crew’s CEO Mickey Drexler notes that the new activewear collection will be “very J.Crew in spirit, very cohesive. It’s not about just a black pant or black top. It’s about color, stripes. We think it brings a new dimension to the business.” The twenty styles come in a variety of polka dots, stripes, and solid colors. We admittedly are rather partial to the polka dots.

Drexler further notes that this is the first time J.Crew has done true performance active wear. And to get the performance aspect right, the company felt it was only right to partner with an expert such as New Balance.

But even if you’re not planning to participate in any competitive sports, you can still sport this collection. In fact, it fits in beautifully with the athleisure trend which is thankfully still going strong.

In Closing

One other noteworthy aspect of this collaboration: Do you recall that J.Crew cast real people (instead of professional models) for its NYFW presentation? Well, they did it again for this collection. You’ll see real ladies who love fitness! And I applaud J.Crew for taking this fresh approach.
