Wednesday Words of Wisdom

It's all about family.

Family is not an important thing. It's everything.

Wednesday Words of Wisdom

As the year is winding down and the holidays are aplenty, it’s not uncommon to be sentimental, feel a tad nostalgic, and maybe even more emotional than normal. And the holidays can also be synonymous with family time. If you’re fortunate enough to be able to be with your family this time of year, take a minute (or two or three) to really feel grateful. Because not everyone gets that time.

Family is Everything

Truly, family is everything. And family doesn’t have to mean blood relatives. Family can mean all sorts of things. Whether step-relatives, half-relatives, or not relatives at all; family can also be friends who have become like family.

And family, in any form, is not something to take for granted.

My family lives all over the country, primarily in the north east. I’m lucky to live in the same city as my in laws, but it is certainly hard to not live in the same city as my immediate family. So, when we are all together, I try to cherish each and every single solitary moment.

Though, even if you are a lucky one who does live near your family, you should still hold those family moments dear.

Of course, not all family members become best friends. And that’s ok. The important thing is to understand that family loves each other unconditionally, in any circumstance.

Family is Family

Yes, you might get annoyed when Grandma Doris pinches your cheeks and asks you 27 times why you’re single, and your Uncle Frank might drive you crazy when he drinks one too many white Russians at the family holiday party and maybe your sister Pam brings around her boyfriend who has told the same jokes over and over again and you’re ready to strangle him and, thus, strangle her, too, BUT at the end of the day…family is family.

Take the good with the bad and feel grateful for them.

It’s not all perfect. And sometimes it feels like your family must be the only crazy one, but trust me, every family has “stuff,” and that “stuff” is what makes your family yours.

The Holiday Season

Enjoy this time of year when family togetherness is much more prevalent than other times of the year. Because it goes fast.

Happy Holidays! Hug your family tight this season and always.

And we’ll see you back here tomorrow!
