How to Wear Pastels
1. Monochromatic and Marvelous
Rock the same pastel shade from head to toe. This is not only incredibly chic, but it can be very flattering and elongating, too.
2. Cool with Contrast
On the flip side, it’s just as stylish to wear a pink pastel skirt with a black motorcycle jacket or black heels. It’s equal parts feminine, cool, edgy, and unexpected.
3. Pastel Partners
As well, don’t be afraid of wearing different shades of pastel colors together. Just make sure you keep an eye on your silhouettes, and find the most flattering pieces when mixing colors.
4. Find a Few
If wearing more than one pastel color at a time, steer clear of wearing too many at once. Three is sometimes even too much depending on the outfit; try to stick to just a couple different pastel colors so you’re not looking too much like that aforementioned Easter egg.
5. Accessories Always
Now, if you’re still unsure about pastels, you can always start with your accessories. Grab a pastel pink clutch or mint green jewelry, and let that be your pastel pick.
6. Only Ombre
When it comes to pastels, ombre is always a good idea. Because pastels are already a very soft arena of colors, they look beautiful as an ombre effect as it goes from “dark” to very light.
7. Nicely Neutral
Neutral shoes and accessories will look great with pastels no matter what. Again, due to the soft, light nature of pastel colors, neutral accents, such as light grey, will also complement them beautifully.
8. Totally Tonal
Finally, pair your pastels with their darker counterpart. Think a pastel pink sweater with a bold pink skirt. Simply gorgeous!
