Having worked in a corporate office environment for over 17 years, I know the struggle is real in the summertime… Temperatures are soaring outside, but air conditioning is blasting inside. What’s a girl supposed to wear to work? She has to simultaneously stay cool outside, stay warm inside, and look professional and stylish all at once.
Well, my simple summer solution was always to opt for a work-appropriate but personality-filled dress, like the nautical vibes I’m wearing here, paired with a comfy cardigan or blazer. Finish the look with a classic handbag and shoes, and you are done! It’s such an easy and practical formula to follow for summer workwear.

Top 12 Dresses from ModCloth
In the summer, it seems that office attire becomes a little more relaxed and a little less serious. So it’s a good chance to venture outside of your plain, stodgy work clothes and show a little more personality. ModCloth is a great place to turn for clothes that allow you to express yourself at a reasonable price point. Check out this workwear edit.
We at Wear + Where + Well scoured these extensive offerings and picked our twelve favorite workwear dresses. Judging by the amount of red, white, and blue in this edit, we clearly have nautical / Americana vibes on our mind! Browse the selection. I think you’ll be surprised to see the inexpensive price point of the pieces (yet still good quality!), plus the breadth of sizes offered. There’s truly something for everyone.
The dress I’m wearing is less than $60! Can you believe that?!
A note on sizing: the dress I’m wearing runs small. I would suggest ordering a size up. I ordered my normal size (a small in this case). While it fit, if I were wearing this to an office all day (or anywhere all day for that matter), I would want it to be a little looser through the chest and rib cage. A medium would the best size for me in terms of comfort.
Fourth of July
One more note on the dress I’m wearing… If you haven’t yet found a Fourth of July option, this could be a great option for that!
