About Draper James

We first took notice of Reese Witherspoon’s lifestyle brand Draper James when the company was launched in 2015. There was an enormous buzz online, and we started following along with the label. But our love for the label really reached a feverish pitch with this summer’s offerings. Before we get into exactly what we are loving, allow us to share a little background about the brand.

Reese started this brand as a tribute to her own Southern heritage. In Reese’s own words:

“When I returned to Nashville with my own family, I wanted to recapture and celebrate all that I love and remember about my grandparents and the South. That is why I created Draper James.”

That tribute to her grandparents is carried out in a very explicit way. The company itself is named after her grandmother Dorothea Draper and her grandfather William James Witherspoon. It’s her way of thanking them for everything she learned about living as a Southern lady with charm, grace, and style.

Draper James is all about bringing contemporary, yet timeless Southern style to our wardrobes and homes, no matter where we live. In a market crowded with fashion lines, Draper James stands out for its unwavering commitment not just to certain products, but to a particular lifestyle. As one of the company’s investors told Fast Company, “Reese’s company stood out in that it is less about an item or even a category, and really about an attitude and a whole way of life.”
