The Idea

When you find an item of clothing that you love, do you find yourself wanting to wear it over and over? I know I do! Having an item of clothing on repeat doesn’t mean your style has to become repetitive, though. Changing how you style that item can change the look entirely. Plus, wearing an item multiple ways will help you get more bang for the buck from your wardrobe spending.

So, for those favorite pieces of mine that I find myself wearing multiple times, I thought it would be fun to share with you some of those alternative styling options. I first did that with this post about styling a romper for day and for night.

One Dress Two Ways

Now I’d like to share with you the second way I’ve worn this Tibi blush pink dress that I first wore here.

The first time I wore the dress, the styling was more dressy in nature. Then last weekend, for a Sunday morning of walking around town and running errands, I gave the dress a relaxed spin by making four key accessory changes:

  1. I traded the Chloe Faye bag for a Mansur Gavriel canvas bucket bug.
  2. I swapped the Laurence Dacade heeled sandals for some fun Dolce & Gabbana sneakers.
  3. I exchanged the Karen Walker tortoiseshell sunglasses for a pair of Ray Ban mirrored aviators.
  4. I replaced gold jewelry and accessories for silver.

These simple changes totally changed the feel of the look and extended the utility of the dress.

Keep reading for details on my looks and similar options for replicating the looks…

    Hi Carrie,
I love this post! I enjoy watching you restyle items and wear them again.

The Tibi dress is lovely (I have been watching Tibi on The RealReal lately) and I have seriously considering splurging on your Tibi dress for my reunion – it’s still a bit $$$ for me). The JCrew dress is also perfect — good reviews too!

    Have a good Wednesday,

    Sheri

Hi Sheri – Thank you for the feedback! I love restyling items, so will definitely keep sharing here.

As for the Tibi dress, it’s funny you should mention that… I kept thinking of that for your reunion as well! It really is a fabulous, easy to wear, versatile dress. If you’ve not shopped at tibi.com before, you should be able to use coupon code “newcustomer” to get 15% off your order.

Honestly, I keep considering getting the white version too! I love it that much.

Thanks Carrie. Let me think that through…it is payday this Friday. Thanks for the code too!

(I posted a pick of the statement Bauble Bar necklace on IG) :))

    4. Carrie says:

Cool! I will take a look.

Also, let me know if I can help with sizing on the Tibi dress…

    5. Sheri says:

      Hi again,
Just thinking about sizing. I suspect I might be a size 2. I hover between small and extra small in most brands.

      Any thoughts?

      Thanks,
      Sheri

    6. Carrie says:

Hey Sheri – I went with the 2 as well. It’s so loose and flowy around the hips, so I just went off my measurements on top. I don’t know for certain, but I’d suspect a 2 would work well on you too.

      Hope that helps!

Love both outfits and that dress really is worth finding more ways to wear it! So in love with your sneakers by the way, those babies are everything.

  7. Carrie, I am always up for a good recycling of dresses for more than one occasion! Almost all my dresses/outfits go through this cycle because I like to keep a check on my wardrobe. I have to say, I am a huge fan of the dressier take on this TIbi dress, may be because I am yet to warm up to the designer/printed sneaker trend with dresses in general..but you rock them anyway!!

    1. Carrie says:

I hear ya… I was slow to adapt the sneaker and dress look, but love it now. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  9. This is such a fun and creative post! And yes, I find myself wearing the same thing allll the time…it’s usually a shift dress or white skinnies. I tend to do flats, pumps and then throw in the sneakers every once in a while (my new found love btw). I totally need to switch up my bags too like you suggested. Thanks for sharing!
