Kicking off a new series.

Currently Loving : Podcasts

Written by Julie Weinstein

We’re so excited to bring you a new series this afternoon! It’s titled “Currently Loving” and we’ll be chatting with you about what we’re currently loving in various categories. Not only are we going to include what we’re into at the moment, but also what you are into. Make sure you keep an eye on Carrie’s IG stories, as she’ll be posing questions on topics, which we’ll then talk about here.

And today it’s all about podcasts.

We love podcasts. More often than not, if I’m driving more than a few minutes away, I’ll be listening to a podcast. As well, sometimes when I’m doing laundry and chores around the house, I’ll be listening to them in the background. Carrie is always listening, whether she’s walking to get coffee, doing work, or working out. So, we thought it would be fun to let you know what we, as a team, are listening to lately, and we’re also going to share some of your favorites!

Podcasts We’re Loving

Carrie

I listen to mainly business podcasts. My two favorite are NPR’s How I Built This and Gary Vaynerchuk’s Gary Vee Audio Experience.

Once a week, “How I Built This” is about innovators, entrepreneurs, and idealists, and the stories behind them. It’s really fascinating! Some of my favorites have included Kate Spade, Kendra Scott, Mark Cuban, Sara Blakely of Spanx, and Zappos.

Now, Gary V’s podcast offers daily inspiration in various forms. From interviews to keynote speeches to off the cuff rants, Gary always has something new to share. His style is very intense, and his approach is very much no-nonsense. He’s all about putting in the work to see the results. You are bound to get some inspiration.

Lately, I’ve become addicted (yes, addicted!) to Beautiful Anonymous, based on the recommendation of Holly. Read more in her description of it below. It really is quite fascinating!

The Lively Show – I cannot say enough good things about Jess Lively. My friend introduced me to her podcasts a couple years ago, and they have, quite literally, changed my life. She interviews incredibly inspiring people, and she always has such important messages. She’s all about intuition and flow, and I just love her!

One Part Podcast – I haven’t listened to that many of Jessica Murnane’s podcast episodes yet, but the ones I have heard are incredible and inspiring. She’s a great interviewer and I feel like I’m listening to my friend talk. She covers all topics in her interviews, such as wellness, food, fashion, and design.

Damsel in Dior – Blogger Jacey Duprie started a podcast not that long ago, and the few episodes she’s recorded I’ve really enjoyed. I love her personality, and the interviews she’s had have been fun and funny to listen to. I also think they drink wine while recording, so automatically I’m a fan. 😉

The Ish – This one is new, and I’m intrigued by the content of the podcast to come. The host is a fellow Houstonian and I can’t wait to hear her insight on the topics she has chosen.

Jamie Ivey Happy Hour – I always love the topics and guests Jamie invites to her show. She has brought in some great authors, speakers, and entrepreneurs. I love this one because while parenting is covered, it’s not the sole purpose of this podcast.

God Centered Mom – LOVE. This is my mommyhood lifeline. It’s in the title; it’s about God centered mommy-ing.

Shailey and Katie – This feeds my mommy and creative sides equally. It’s fun loving and relatable.

Jen Hatmaker – I know there are serious Brené Brown fan girls, even Glennon Doyle, but I’m a gigantic Jen Hatmaker fan girl and everything she touches is my favorite. Her books, her podcast… I mean, I rank her high in folks I screen shot and text to friends.

Mari

Oprah SuperSoul Conversations – I haven’t had as much time lately for podcasts, but I have always loved Oprah’s.

Podcasts You’re Loving

Annaliese : I love The Skinny Confidential! Such fun lifestyle topics and interviews each week.

Emily : Criminal and Longform

Holly : Beautiful Anonymous – Concept sounds boring, but it’s amazing. An anonymous caller calls in and they talk about anything for an hour until the timer runs out, without saying their name or where they’re from. Host is Chris Gethard.

Jenni : Earn Your Happy is awesome!

Jennifer : Happier – So interesting!

Marci : Best of Both Worlds – It’s new, by two working mom bloggers about working and parenting. I’ve followed them both for a long time! One is a pedi endocrinologist and one writes about working mothers. I also like Katie Couric’s podcast and Happier by Gretchen Rubin.

Melanie : How I Built This, Hidden Brain, Anna Faris is Unqualified, The Longest Shortest Time, This American Life, Modern Love, Young House Love

Stacey : I love Homecoming – It’s scripted and so good. I also recommend the new podcast from Book Riot, where authors tell their favorite book. Young House Love – John and Sherry from Young House Love blog. Bitch Sesh – Casey Wilson and Danielle Schneider talk about Real Housewives shows (including Dallas!) and pop culture – Super funny!

Tori : Small Town Murder – It’s different and is a comedy.

Any others?
