A Fun Trend to Love and Wear Right Now : Pom Poms

We hope you had a great weekend! We continued to enjoy some more unseasonably warm weather here in Houston. Frankly, we are enjoying not having to layer up. I’m more of a hot weather gal after all. So, today’s fashion focus is all about a trend that we’re loving right now and makes us feel even more ready for the warmer months: pom poms.

In fact, you may remember seeing me in my pom pom sandals at Milan Fashion Week last year and even earlier on we did a pom pom round up a couple summers back. There’s something about a pom pom detail that lends itself to beach vacations and spring break. However, we have taken full advantage of the look this winter, and have been loving adding beautiful pom pom pieces to our wardrobes. Not just on clothing anymore, we now see pom poms adorning shoes, jewelry, and bags, too. Whether big or small poms, colorful or not, alone or with other poms, this is a trend to embrace right away, no matter what type of weather you’re having where you live.

From Runways to Retail Stores

Pom poms aren’t brand new to the scene, but we’ve certainly seen a resurgence of them the past few seasons on the runways. The spring 2016 runways were full of them, from Proenza Schouler to Alexander McQueen to Opening Ceremony and beyond. And they continued to appear on the spring 2017 runways, such as with Kate Spade, and in presentations, such as with J.Crew.

Furthermore, they are popping up in all the stores at every price point under the sun. Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and ASOS all have vast assortments, as well as many of our other favorite stores and websites (hint : you’ll find many of our pom pom picks from various retailers below).

Not Just for Spring and Summer Break

As we mentioned above, pom poms do make us think of sandy beaches and long days spent by the pool. There’s something about their whimsical and fun nature that make us want to jet off on vacation, but that doesn’t mean you can’t wear them right now. In fact, if where you live is cold and dreary at the moment, it’s the perfect way to brighten things up a bit, starting with your wardrobe. And if you aren’t ready to dive head first into the world of pom poms, you can always start with an accessory, such as a scarf, clutch, or pair of earrings.

What I’m Wearing

My look is full of pom poms because the more the merrier with this one, right? When I found this Dodo Bar Or top, I knew I had to scoop it up. The best part is you can wear it right away, but also as a cover up this summer. It can truly take you from brunch to the beach. My other pom pieces include a Nannacay tote and my favorite Bauble Bar earrings, which aren’t actual pom poms,of course, but take on the look of them in a beautiful way.

Note: As always, all details of my look you’ll be able to find below, along with similar and less expensive options, too.

How You Can Wear the Pom Pom Trend

There are lots of pom pom pieces out there, and we’re thrilled to see it! Below we’ve pulled together 38 of our very favorites that we think you’re going to love. So, with these 38 ideas plus the three pom pom pieces I’m wearing here, that gives you 41 ways to embrace this fun trend!

Love this fun Pom Pom look so much! This trend has lasted more seasons than I expected and I’m so glad! I bought the Sam Edelman Pom Pom sandals last summer and really want to add a few of the new Kate Spade pieces to my closet soon. I’ve been eyeing the Rebecca Minkoff pompom bag for awhile now too.? It’s all just too cute! ❤️
