New Feature: Tuesday Shoesday
It’s no secret that I love shoes. If you follow me on Instagram, that love for shoes is more than obvious based on the #TuesdayShoesday posts I share. Evidence: Exhibit A, Exhibit B, and Exhibit C, among many others.
Now, it’s time to bring that shoe love directly here to Wear + Where + Well. So, welcome to the first installment of Tuesday Shoesday, where I’ll be sharing my love for shoes each Tuesday.
4 Must Have Neutral Pumps
Let’s start the shoe discussion with some closet classics, shall we?
While I certainly have an affinity for fun, quirky, even outlandish heels, the reality is that I spend most of my days wearing classic, closed-toe neutral pumps. That’s what is appropriate for my conservative engineering office environment.
Over my 16 plus years of working in corporate America, I’ve found four neutral pumps to be absolutely essential in my closet:
- Black pumps
- Nude pumps
- Red pumps
- Leopard print pumps
(Yes, I’m counting red and leopard as neutrals!)
Not only are these four pumps must-haves for the office, but they transition wonderfully to the evening. With these four shades of shoes, you’ll have something to go with everything in your closet. For that timeless, ladylike look, look for a single-soled, pointy toe, closed toe stiletto pump. This style can take you from day to night in effortlessly chic, feminine fashion.

I recently coincidentally broke the heels off of two longtime favorite pair of black pumps! So it was time to restock the basics.

I wear a lot of neutral black shoes to the office. I was wondering, are you required to wear hose at your office, or can you wear bare legs? Just wondering if bare feet ruin your beautiful shoes / ruin your pedicure? I struggle with that.

Truth be told, black is usually my last choice. So many other interesting options out there, even for the office (nude, red, leopard to name a few).
Anyway, no I don’t have to wear hose. I don’t have any issues messing up my pedicure in my high heels. I do make an effort to wipe the insides down with a damp cloth and soap every week or so.

I agree about the nude, black and leopard, but I have a pair of red pumps and NEVER wear them. I love the color red, but unless it is clothing, I never wear it. Like I have a Saint Laurent red bag and it’s another item I never seem to reach for. But I love red dresses!!!

I hear ya, Merritt. And I don’t entirely disagree. I think I like to work them in as a punch of color at the office when I do wear all over neutrals like black and navy and such.
Red and Leopard are absolutely neutrals!! I wore my red pumps for my wedding and got sooo many compliments! They bring the perfect pop of color without clashing too much — exactly like a neutral!
